Everything you might want to know before your child joins us. Can’t find your answer? We’re a call or a message away.

Opening & the school

When do you open?

We open for Term 1 in January 2027, with open days and private tours running from November. Families who pre-register are contacted first when enrolment opens.

Is Little Explorers registered?

Yes. Little Explorers is a fully registered school, and our registration documents are available to see at the school. Just ask when you visit.

Where are you?

We are in Kungu, Najjera II, Wakiso (P. O. Box 119401). You’ll find a map and directions on our contact page.

Which curriculum do you follow?

Our programmes are based on the internationally recognised Cambridge Early Years curriculum, which covers six areas of learning through play. Read more on our programmes page.

Admissions & enrolment

When can my child start?

After our first term in January 2027, children can join at the start of any term, as long as there is space in their class.

What ages do you take?

Children from 18 months to 6 years: Playgroup (1½ – 2½), Nursery (2½ – 3½) and Kindergarten (3½ – 6). Daycare is available for the same ages.

What if a class doesn’t fill?

Classes run from a small minimum, and smaller groups simply mean more attention for each child. We will never combine age groups in a way that compromises care, and we’ll tell you honestly how many places are taken.

Can we visit before we decide?

Yes, please do. Tours run on weekdays and Saturdays, and children are very welcome to come along and play. Book a visit.

How does settling in work?

We usually begin with short visits alongside a parent, then build up the time gradually, keeping you updated until your child feels at home.

How do I register my child?

Get in touch, visit the school, complete the registration form and then agree a settling-in plan with us. The four steps are explained on our admissions page.

What documents will I need?

A completed registration form, a copy of your child’s birth certificate, their immunisation card, two passport photos, copies of parents’ or guardians’ IDs and any medical or allergy notes.

Programmes & daily life

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. On Saturdays we hold open days and tours; we are closed on Sundays.

What does a typical day look like?

A healthy balance of play-based learning, stories, songs, outdoor play, meals and rest, planned around each age group and the Cambridge areas of learning.

Do children nap at school?

Yes. Younger children rest after lunch in our quiet rest room, where every child has their own cot and a carer is always close by.

What about meals and allergies?

Meals and healthy snacks are provided. Please tell us about any allergies or dietary needs at registration, and we will plan around them carefully.

Do you offer full-day care?

Yes. Our daycare runs until 6:00 pm for working families. Ask us about after-school and holiday care.

How will I know how my child is doing?

You’ll get daily updates, regular chats with your child’s teacher and simple progress notes, and our doors are always open.

Safety & care

Who are the teachers?

Our carers and teachers hold early-childhood qualifications and bring experience from other schools. Every one is reference-checked and first-aid trained, and you’ll meet them before you enrol.

How do you keep children safe?

We have one supervised entrance with a visitor log, and the play garden is fully fenced. Ask to see any of our safety measures when you visit.

Who can collect my child?

Children leave only with adults you have named, and we check ID.

How many children are in a class?

Classes are small, with a maximum of 12 children and at least two adults in every room.

What happens if my child is unwell?

All staff are first-aid trained. If your child becomes unwell during the day, we will care for them and call you straight away.

Fees & payments

Is there a registration fee?

Any registration fee is set out clearly in the fee guide, with no hidden extras.

What do fees include?

Fees include learning materials, meals and snacks, and daily updates for parents.

How much are the fees?

Our 2027 fee guide sets out term fees for each programme. Ask us on WhatsApp and we’ll send you a copy.

How do I pay, and who do I ask about invoices?

Payment details are included in the fee guide. For invoices and payments, contact our accounts team at bursar@littleexplorers.ac.ug.
